ALL COURSES WILL BE HELD IN-PERSON AND FOLLOW A FULL WORK-DAY FORMAT FROM 9AM-5PM AT THE FARM CENTRE IN CHARLOTTETOWN PEI



WHAT IT IS

  • this is an advanced and highly respected qualification that demands full commitment and a high level of self discipline on behalf of the candidate to be able to learn, understand, and absorb the breadth of this course content

  • because you are a knowledge-seeking and passionate wine enthusiast looking to secure advanced-level knowledge to further your enjoyment of talking, tasting, and investing in all things wine
  • because you work in a hospitality management position and want to be able to improve your wine program and train staff on the fundamentals of wine
  • because you work in the drinks trade and are looking for upward mobility within the industry by acquiring WSET qualifications and globally recognized certifications

 

WHAT YOU NEED

  • there are no prerequisites and glassware will be provided for wine samples (option to buy set of 6 standard ISO tasting glasses $59)
  • it is strongly recommended that you start with WSET Level 1 & 2 Award in Wines to build your foundation of knowledge from the very first principles of how key factors influence the style, quality, and price of wine.


HOW WE DO IT

  • 6 full in-class days presented 1 day per week over the span of 6 weeks
  • guided tastings of over 80 benchmark wines featuring principle grape varieties, classic wine regions, and regional specialties
  • 45 hours of additional private study time is recommended
  • registration closes 2 weeks before first scheduled in-person session
  • payment must be made IN FULL at the time of registration
  • candidates will be given an option to receive an access code for eBook study pack within 3 working days of registration
  • hard copy study packs will be available for in-person pick up within 3 working days of registration
  • hard copy study packs will be mailed to out-of-province candidates within 3 working days of registration


WHAT YOU GET

  • a globally recognized 'Level 3 Award in Wines' formal qualification
  • a professional certificate mailed to you and a WSET lapel pin

 

HOW YOU GET IT

  • on the 6th in-class session successful candidates are required to complete a closed book exam consisting of multiple choice questions, short written answer questions, and blind tasting exam
  • UNIT 1 Theory Exam: two hour closed book exam consisting of 2 parts (50 multiple choice and 4 x 25 mark short written answer) requiring a minimum grade of 55% ON EACH PART to pass
  • UNIT 2 Tasting Exam: thirty minute exam consisting of a blind tasting of 2 wines, requiring a minimum grade of 55% to pass

 

WHAT IF YOU DON’T GET IT

  • UNIT 2 Tasting Exam $100 re-sit fee for Level 3 Award in Wines


EITHER WAY – YOU MUST PAY

  • $1995 includes tuition, all wine samples, exam fees and a study pack
  • payment must be made through online registration only
  • payment must be made IN FULL at the time of registration
  • registration closes 2 weeks before first scheduled in-person session
  • Wayfaring Wine & Spirit Co. will accept only Visa, Mastercard, and American Express
  • all payments are non-refundable
  • in the unlikely event that Wayfaring Wine & Spirit Co. has to cancel a course, registered candidates are eligible for 100% refund
